Friday Fun: Le Feu et l’Eau / Christmas Events in Acadiana

This weekend there are several cultural and Christmas events happening in Acadiana that you won’t want to miss! The 7th Annual Fire and Water (Le Feu et l’Eau) Festival is taking place in Arnaudville on Saturday, Dec. 3rd. It is a completely FREE event featuring Music, Demonstrations, and Workshops!

Also happening in St. Landry Parish this weekend are Christmas at Coteau Dec. 2-3 and Coteau Christmas Parade Dec. 4th:
“Fri-Preview party where many area’s best restaurants serve delicious cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres. The evening also includes an exciting Live Auction featuring variety of merchandise. Sat-shopping at the Holiday Market and enjoying good food and the company of good friends at the Gourment Luncheon. Lunch will be served by Sacred Heart.”

Friday Fun: French Friday (Vendredi Francais) in Downtown Opelousas!

Opelousas, Louisiana celebrates its annual French Friday on Main Street this Friday, Nov. 4th from 8-10pm with the sounds our Horace Trahan and the New Ossun Express. Come and support our home town in its efforts to preserve our heritage and get the weekend started off with a good time!

The 55th Festival Acadien de Clare (Celebration of Acadian Culture)

“The Festival acadien de Clare is the oldest Acadian festival in the world and has always been a celebration of Acadian culture and heritage. Thousands of people from all over the world gather every year in the Baie Sainte-Marie region for over two weeks filled with plenty of activities for people of all ages.”

The music series features Acadian, Bluegrass, and Cajun/Creole styles with many local Acadiana artists participating each year to celebrate our Acadian heritage!  The festival takes place from July 30th – August 15th with performances at the FAIS DODO EN ACADIE featuring Cadiens, Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole and Les Malfecteurs!

 

…And let’s not forget the seafood! How does and Acadian-style gumbo sound: lobster, scallops, crab, and clam!
